Experts and Their Passions

“Your vocation in life is where your greatest joy meets the world’s greatest need.”

- Frederick Buechner

Experts and their passions is a week all about the things that bring people to life. What do our children want to be when they grow up? What dreams do they have? What do they know is possible? What joys will they bring to the world’s great needs?

This week combines many of the most critical elements of youth development for our campers. We combine supportive adult mentors with visiting experts to share their passions. Campers will share passions with people who love what they do, the impact they make and gain hands on experience learning from these experts.

What you will do

Join us for a week at Charlotte Day Camp participating in all the fun and enriching activities while enjoying special sessions led by people who are excited to share their passions.

  • Hand on and interactive activities led by visiting experts

  • Passionate experts will share experience and knowledge with campers.

  • Follow on activities to reinforce concepts

These activity leaders have included people who are international wrestling foundation founders, build projects to help bring water to the world, solve problems for farmers, or create housing out of materials for less than $5,000. We love learning from people who have found a way to bring their passions to life!

Learn More About Other Project Challenge Modules

Theater Camp:
The world is your stage! Play drama games, learn improv activities, and create a mini-production by the end of the week.

Science Lab: Can you build the tallest tower or the most unsinkable boat? Science Lab is all about using basic science concepts to build a project to achieve the task at hand.

Leadership InitiativesWhat's the best way to build leadership skills? Practice! We spend this week playing group games and doing leadership initiatives. The activities vary to test different skills and there are enough so that every camper gets a chance to perform each type of role.

Change the World CampGroups of 12-14 students go through a Design Thinking Process to create their own community service project. Then each groups gets a $400 budget and executes their project by the end of the week!

Charlotte Explorer WeekCome explore Charlotte with us! This is a special program for the last week of the summer. Each day we take a different field trip to explore the Queen City. Come see a baseball game, visit a museum, and have a week's worth of adventures around town.
