STEM Skills at Charlotte Day Camp

STEM Skills Program for 2018

There are two options for STEM Skills at Charlotte Day Camp this summer: Game Theory and Science Lab.

Game Theory introduces strategic decision-making and pattern recognition through board games and strategy games, while
Science Lab explores scientific concepts and then tests them through projects and experiments. Each program has STEM-based learning outcomes, and each creates opportunities for campers to practice our four growth skills: communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity.

What Campers Will Learn in Game Theory

  • Rules to popular board, card, and role-playing games each week.
  • Have positive experiences applying mathematics models and concepts to game subject matter that kids find fun and interesting.
  • Learn decision-making tools and strategies to apply in a variety of contexts.
  • Practice communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity through different styles of games.

What Campers Will Learn in Science Lab

  • Introduction to the scientific method of exploration and discovery.
  • Practice descriptive and observational skills.
  • Explore topics such as forces, collisions, buoyancy, numbers, estimation, and more.
  • Practice communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity through a daily group project.
